Its only Tuesday but I'm looking at the forecast for some horny pilots anyway. Wednesday Heavener for experienced Hg in moderate to strong wind. Thursday-Friday no fly. Saturday low moderate becoming high moderate speed direction looks Buffalo but could become Heavener. Sunday no fly. I wouldn't suggest making long term plans this time of year because 12-24 hour shift in conditions is not uncommon. Good news though is for $10 I guarantee a flight in the next five days or your money back.

My prediction for today was calm to light NW turning light E late. This morning Don Kreger and I discussed the options but it didn't look good. I was watching Clint Eastwood Sudden Impact when Mel came to the cabin hopeful to fly on his way up the mountain. So I called Don and told him he had Mel and Yogi for company on launch and finished the movie. Working on some stuff outside I was noticing cumi formations popping and gentle breezes from the south. Looking at the mountain I see Don a 1000 over, time for me to go flying!! Great day! At one point Don and Mel are circling a couple hundred feet apart with me in a tight core coming up from below at 1000ft/min directly between them. Stayed with the thermal to cloudbase. Mel, after several low saves, managed 4000 agl over the potato hills and Don was all over Buffalo. This day defiantly exceeded expectations. The reason it worked wasn't because the forecast was wrong - the reason was because it was calm and light, very sunny, cold last night, moist warm ground and a south rocky face less obscured without leaves and microscale meteorology = Wiki definition: ...features generally too small to be depicted on a weather map

Its cold like 50's in the lz. Launch five less and mostly cloudy. Wind strait in at 8-10 very smooth feeling. New leather gloves very slipery concernes me a little. Pulled up the glider and with no effort it rises above me. Standing directly on the edge leaned foreward and into the sky i went. Slow down my ground speed and go up or stay level. Smooth air with intermittent lift everywhere. 3000 agl over Eastwood first cloud encounter. Wet and very cold! I head for a sun hole to join with a eagle. I'm cold really cold. Glide in the sunlight trying to warm my hands. Between the eagle and the view i'm feeling some warmer cold and start climing the next thermal. Gotta get outa here just to cold for this pilot. Wingover into spiral and lock in at 1200 ft/min down. Holding on till close to ground then a smooth seat landing. Im sitting in a warm car now, fingers are working.... just thought i'd share since no one thought it was good enough to come out.

Zipping up the suitcase, outbound for Honduras, glider packed, family on the tow line. :) Returning in a couple of weeks.

So we had a 100% chance for rain yesterday.... I gave myself a 20% chance of putting together a video taken during my May of 2011 visit to Germany.... Well it rained and I did the video  here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhzceP1ra2g und Guido du bist bei 12:41:00 dabei.
